1 of 5 Like the product but not the licence fee August 1, 2016

Response to the previous review does not answer the issue.  Those of us in UK churches who are trying to keep with in the law and make sure companies/artists get the loyalties they're due purchase annual licences to cover the different types of media that we use.  Up to now the Church Video License from CCLI has always covered all the films I've used at church, why is 'What's in the Bible' not registered on this scheme?  It becomes unmanageable and very costly to have different licenses for different companies.  Also when I bought the DVDs from a Christian on-line bookshop there was nothing obvious on the sales description to say that they were for home use only.  The DVD's used 25% of my annual budget for children's work, with the extra license fee that will be 50% & this is on top of the church already have a license for all other films.  May be my set of 'What's in the Bible' will have to sit on the shelf and gather dust which will be a shame because the are so good!

Response from the Friends and Heroes team: It is not unusual for DVDs to be for home use only.  Each of the What's in the Bible? DVD boxes have a warning on the back, which I appreciate does not help if you purchase online.  For those holding video rights, CCLI and other schemes are not always the most effective way to collect their dues as, for lots of different reasons, viewings are not always reported on an annual return which can result in poor income for all those signed up to that scheme.

1 of 5 Like the DVDs, frustrated by the license July 3, 2015
Reviewer: Jane Watkins from Southampton, Hampshire United Kingdom
I like the What's in the Bible DVDs, but I object to having to buy a separate license on top of the cost of the DVD. Why can't it come under CVLI video license like most Christian video distributors? We don't use DVDs often enough to warrant buying a yearly license.   So, £10 a viewing is very expensive. It means that we won't use the DVDs very often at all. I wonder how many people who use the DVDs actually abide by your licensing?

Response from the Friends and Heroes Team
Any public viewing of a DVD needs a licence by law (www.gov.uk/showing-films-in-public). We offer a range of licences to cater for most needs (from one-off events through to regular usage). The best value licence is our Lifetime Licence, allowing as many showings of any What's in the Bible? DVD (currently 16 titles) and only costs £140. Unlike most other licence schemes, it is a one-off cost with no annual reporting.
